Hello Aurélie,

Since June 1, you have been the new Editorial Director of Le Généraliste, the leading journal for general practitioners.

What’s your take on trends in the health press?

The health context of recent months has put health at the heart of French people’s concerns. The mainstream media can’t go a day without covering a health topic. The specialized press, on the other hand, has the challenge of supporting the frontline players in the health sector by providing them with reliable, cutting-edge information.

You come from a very digital culture: how do you use this asset to cover the latest news about doctors and their environment?

Today, digital technology is an integral part of everyday life. Doctors don’t put down their smartphones when they enter their offices and go back to their rotary phones! We have to keep up with this change by ensuring that our articles are accessible whatever the mode of reading: from cell phone to computer to paper magazine.

At the same time, new technologies are becoming new tools for doctors to manage their practices and care for their patients. It’s important to be able to provide them with information on the issues related to these digital tools.

What do you find most meaningful about your job?

I attach great importance to providing readers with “useful” information, i.e. information that responds to the problems they encounter on a daily basis, but also on a more occasional basis, that sheds light on the social context, that brings them the latest medical news…

Le Généraliste’s strength lies in its ability to combine socio-professional and medical news, special reports on specific topics, and continuing medical education. But it also puts the spotlight on professionals and their initiatives, and acts as a catalyst for exchanges on the website and in its pages.

Will this new challenge be an opportunity to change the title’s editorial line?

Indeed, it’s planned! But shhh… it’s in the works, so I’ll tell you more soon.
